EXPERIENCE SOLITUDE AND SILENCE WITH THE SUMMER COLLECTION OF#NBSP;SHMELEVSKY

The brand of handcrafted hats Shmelevsky has presented a summer collection dedicated to solitude and the search for silence in the era of digital noise. The scenery for shooting straw boaters, fedoras, and wide-brimmed bucket hats was the National Historic and Archeological Reserve "Stone Grave", a monument of the ancient culture of Ukraine in the middle of the Azov steppe that embodies the feeling of tranquility, peace, and returning to the roots.
"I have always been interested in the phenomenon of silence in art, the comprehension of which drew attention of many artists and composers of different eras. In the times of the endless stream of mobile notifications and digital noise, silence became especially important, as it makes it possible to realize the significance of the moment, which is crucial for the creative process", says brand designer Stas Shmelevsky.

The summer collection features ten pieces made of natural sand color straw, complemented by brown and black, dyed using the Hand Dyed technique. Each hat is created by hand, and the entire process — from sketching to the final product — is performed by the designer himself. This approach allows to experiment with the shape and control the quality of each stitch. The whole process of creating one hat takes up to five days.

The hats have smooth asymmetric shapes and are decorated with linen ribbons of natural shades. The main feature of those ribbons is the knotted stitches, hand-sewn with a colonial knot — 21 for one ribbon.

"The color palette of the collection conveys a mood of tranquility and peace, and the creation process returns us to the concept of the English art movement "Arts & Crafts", which is based on the idea of handcrafted products superiority over industrial products", says the designer.

The price of any straw hat is  140 USD. You can purchase a collection on the brand's website.
